The minute I read oil on the headers where all the pipes come together I had a flash back . Long as I drove at low speeds it wouldn't be to bad but go over 3500 rpm's and look out , the passenger area would fill with smoke and a big trail of smoke behind me . I bought a $50.00 fire extinguisher just in case . That would have been one heck of a fire . My ceramic headers are stained for life . The oil was coming out and getting on the headers between the dust cover and the bell housing . Mostly on the pass side . I went as far as trying form a gasket between the cover and bell hoping the oil would leak out of the hole in the bottom and the leak would stop as the engine broke in .
Wrong . 5 hours and 2 days and all is well if I knew how easy it was I would have fixed weeks before I did . Wish I could post pitchers I'd show you what the old cap looked like when I took it out .
IF you can get the old type side cap seals DO IT .
PS I did change the seal while it was apart (just in case) although it still looked knew .
