Troy from Simi Dodge MP's Challenger TA

This car had about 40K original miles in So Cal all of it's life less than 10 miles from the original dealer. All the suspension was original, so all the factory markings were still there. All markings you see were there before and documented. Had all original paint too. Just someone did some motor work, headers and lightly spray bombed the engine compartment.

I would love some information on replicating the look of Cosmoline on the lower control arms.

Also, how does one refinish the housing on an automatic transmission so that it looks new.  Is it inadvisable to try and paint the housing with some aluminum paint?  This would also help keep oil from seeping into the pores, it seems.

Thanks.

They were originally hung by the ball joint hole and  dipped in cosmoline. So if you spray that battery protector, mask the top dip line and paint the lower control arm hanging by the ball joint hole. Make sure to get a drip going downward in there too!

Scrub it. Then make sure you trans rebuilder has a good hot tank. Tell him not to put any paint on anything. Take the case home yourself during the rebuild and fine bead blast it. Then give it back to him.

Aluminum paint flakes off and it doesn't look right anyway.

On the 71 Buick GS vert that we used to have, we used the Aluma blast on the casing and it held up very well as the car was a nice cruise night driver and did pretty well at car shows.
