As I said, no offense intended and I did not have all the info before I shot off my mouth. If this is how your guy wants to go, cool. I don't recall what brand my NAPA sells, but they're the only place in town that mixes any. Yes, I live in nowheresville. I'm doing the engine bay myself and if it looks OK, I might try the rest of the car.

We appreciate your progress pics, because it inspires us to keep moving on our cars!  :2thumbs:

I've always heard that quality lacquer, the more coats the better, produces the absolute best show quality shine.

I painted my challenger Green Go with acrylic enamel. I got a lot of raised eyebrows as well. People kept asking me why I didn't go with base coat/ clear coat. I wanted the old school look on my car. I color sanded it and buffed it out and it looks great.

Just dont park your car in the hot sun, It will FADE!  lacquer paint has no uv protectants at all!!!!  and chips very badly. been doin body work and paint for 28 years. I am surprised that u got lacquer at all, because alot of states banned lacquer based products because of the solvents. A couple of years ago i painted this guys 64 vette with lacquer, all the materials cost around 200.00!!

All lacquers that are produced today are Acrylic Lacquers. They're not pure lacquer like the stuff from the 60's on back. The old lacquer could be scraped from the car and then soaked in lacquer thinner and then be re-shot. The new stuff dries and cures more like Acrylic enamel. Big difference. It doesn't buff the same way as the old stuff.
I paint cars for a living and the only thing that I would use lacquer on is interior parts because of the quick drying. I've noticed that many of the interior paints are back to being lacquer based again.
You can clear coat over acrylic lacquer with urethane clears to increase the durabilty.

Yeah, I'm not sure I like the front either.  It just seemed like to much green and I really don't like the original blackout style where it goes straight down the middle.  I might just paint the hood green and leave the scoops black.  I really think it does need some black though.
