holley choke problem
« on: August 05, 2009 - 04:28:05 PM »
hey all,
i just finished sticking a 600 holley and weiand intake onto my 318, and it seems to run great, with one issue.
the choke doesn't disengage after you blip the throttle, it stays on and the motor then idles at 1500rpm.
the electric choke doesn't have any power connected, is this the cause?
i can depress the little red plastic cam connected to the choke plate by hand and the choke plate opens up and the car idles as it should, but the next
time you work the throttle the choke engages again and won't release until i flip the red plastic cam.
any ideas?

cheers,
aaron

Aaron,

You need to have power to that choke.   :grinyes:

With power on it, it will heat up and slowly open and stay open. There is an adjustment if it doesn't open up soon enough. I believe there are 3 screws to remove, then you can turn the pod towards the front of the car to get the choke to open up earlier.

you need to tap intoi the Blue wire either at the alternator or the ballast resistor to get 12v to the choke
