Help with my 440 build

I have some questions about my 440 build up on my Cuda 440 Six Pack Clone

Here is what i have
Block-'76 bored .030"
Heads-915 milled .030" (valves 2.14, 1.81) pocket ported
Pistons- Don't know yet considering KB237 or TRW2355
Rods-Don't know yet (5140 factory style I beam rods 7/16" bolts, Probably)
Crank-Steel '71 (turned .010")
Cam-Purple stick 484
Intake-Aluminum 6 pac
Carbs-Holley Six pack 4670's & 4672 (Pro Max kit)
Headers-Hooker Super comp
Tranny-A833 overdrive (23 spl)
Rear Axle-8 3/4 3.91 Posi.
This a street build maybe a couple times down the strip

Here is my questions
Does anyone have a similar build and can tell me HP and torque, roughly?
I believe my compression will be around 11-11.25, What head gasket should i used to keep it around 11?
If i bush the rods Can i use .990 pins Full floaters with the KB237?
Pistons/Rods i should use?
Should i run the Purple stick or find a different grind
How much should i remove off my intake to correct the fit caused by milling?

.012 needs to be removed from the intake for each .010 off the heads so you need approx .036-.040 off the intake faces
 I would use a Forged piston over the hyper KB piston
 the stock LY rods will hold up just fine unless you want to replace them anyway , the LY rods take 3/8 " bolts .
 I would look at a Lunati VooDoo Grind over the 484 Mopar grind , you need some duration to help bleed off the high compression at lower RPM , You could order a custom grind as well if you go solid lifter .
I made 500 flywheel HP with a similar build in my Duster but with a bigger cam & carb

Thanks for the help on machining the intake.
What kind of grind would you suggest 290/305 dur?

I figured the cost of rework my old rods would almost equally the new set from 440 Source.
might as well buy new with 7/16.

i built a 440 with the following trw forged 2295 piston's floating ly rods forged crank. .030 over torque plate bored with a comp purple plus .484 wish i would have went one size bigger. ported heads 2.14 1.81 valves matching springs and a M1 single plane intake. this would was a strong running engine. the 2295's are dome piston's but they didn't ping near as bad as dads 2355's guess it is because of the tighter quench with the domes? i really liked this combo good street motor car ran 7.90's in the 1/8 driving it to the track full interior and all steel also had 3.55 gears and a 3000 stall on drag radials.

well i got about the setup accept i run the 509 purple shaft,same gears,727,2800 converter,750 holley,cast crank,stockrods,kb pistons,shift at 5800-6000 rpms not much more than that..pretty stock other than the comp,cam and intake..it ran a 12.80 in the quarter mile,391 gears with a 28x10.5 sportsman pro

KB 237 pistons have a 1.094 wrist pin.  They are way bigger than a .990

The TRW2295 pistons would probably put my Compression ratio out of the range of Street.  12-1 or more.
The KB 237s said can be used with Full floating or press applications

I have ran 915's on many of my setups in the passed with no problems, as long as you used ARP studs.

yes, my old 237's were used with spiral locks and eagle bushed rods, but they were not .990 pins

Well i would say it depends on comp ratio..if its high not very much,but if its a 9.5-1 then you could make 550..on it..but the block comes in to play at that hp..just my  :2cents:

I do not think that horsepower/torque is so much in question when talking cast crank.  I believe it to be based more on high rpm's.  When you spin at high rpm's, the crank can "bow" and a cast crank can break because of this.   :2cents:

i'm not going crazy with the hp.  here are the cam specs:

Advertised Duration:  270 Intake / 270 Exhaust
Duration @ .050" : 224 Intake / 224 Exhaust
Valve Lift with 1.5 Rockers: .470 Intake / .470 Exhaust
Lobe Sep. Angle : 110°

RPM Range : 1800 to 5500

its a Comp Cam Xtreme Energy grind, with a stock torque converter.  block is a '78 casting.

 :iagree: with what Neil says. VooDoo cam. If you have the patience to adjust valves every year then go with the thicker rocker shafts, adjustable Crane rockers (like a 273 has) and a soid lifter cam but se the 225 lifters because they are lighter. Watch that thing rev then so make sure you get a good balance job.

its a Comp Cam Xtreme Energy grind, with a stock torque converter.  block is a '78 casting.
you will be more than fine..i got a cast crank in my motor and have a 509 cam with stock rockers,with a performer rpm intake and a 2800 converter,3310 holley..and i shift at 5800 and its got about 300 passes on the motor down the strip and thats with driving it 20 miles there and running about 5 times and driving it home..and the only problem its ever gave me was the single bolt thats in the cam back out once..other than that..its been one fun little motor and sounds good too

thanks guys!  i feel pretty secure now.
