What's the proper way to do this?
« on: August 14, 2009 - 02:08:18 AM »
With an aftermarket air cleaner, what do you do with the vent hose in the valve cover?  I figured it was a dirt magnet if not filtered somehow.  How else can I do this without it looking ghetto?

there is a filter mesh inside the breather that cna be cleaned with varsol or similar , or you can run a K&N breather in place of the factory breather

alternately, you could buy an elbow fitting that bolts to the inside of the filter base (you would have to punch or drill the holes). Some aftermarket bases already have a knockout plug to facilitate the fitting. Then attach the breather hose to the fitting.

At low engine speed air is drawn in through the breather because the PVC is drawing the fumes from inside the motor into the inlet manifold to be burnt. However under hard driving there is blowby past the rings and the PVC pipe cannot handle all the excess pressure build up so the extra goes out the breather and that is why it should be connected to the air cleaner inside so it can be burnt as well without making an oily mess over the rocker cover.   :2thumbs:
