Powder coat and wheel bearing seal
« on: August 17, 2009 - 02:20:45 PM »
Wondering if anyone out there has any experiecnce with putting a wheel bearing seal over powder coat?  I had my steering knuckle powder coated and they coated right up to the spindle (the spindle is not coated).  So where the bearing seal will sit is coated.  My question is where the seal meets the powder coat will it make a good seal or will it cause problems?

Thanks,

I had the same issue with my spindles on my 300... I used a dremel with a light abrasive and removed just the powder from the offending areas.  I didn't try running the spindles with the powder on them...

big chance you will get problems down the road.   the powder is adding pretty much to the diametre. I`d take it off.
