getting a draining sound from carb after engine shutoff
« on: September 01, 2009 - 10:03:10 PM »
All,

I just noticed that I hear a "draining" sound after shutting down my engine.  The sound seems to be coming from the carburetor.  Could the fuel bowls be over flowing back into the engine?  She starts up just fine after an overnight park and even a weekend park so there is still fuel there to turn her on.

Fire it up with the air cleaner off. Then shut it down and look down the venturi's with a flashlight. They will be wet if fuel is leaking in.

More than likely just the oil draining back into the engine pan. :2cents:

:iagree:  Could also be pressure from the coolant burping back into the overflow bottle or onto the floor if there's no jug.
