I am a proud dad
« on: August 15, 2009 - 11:56:56 PM »
My son and the band he is in was the opening band for American Idol David Cook.

Derrick, (my son) has had a few accomplishments at an early age.

He went to Go Ministries College to be a minister and learn music and theatre arts
He is also a deputy sherriff
And has done one cd now . He wrote his own music, performed sound on sound and played every instrument all but the drums and did vocals. He is my youngest son. I can't get into the younger gospel music he and this band are playing, but he is playing for God. So if he's happy, I'm happy. Here is 3 songs they did for the opening to David Cook. Derrick is 26 this September.  I am proud of him and his solo cd amazes me.

When I was his age, I used to be an entertainer for about 12 yrs. I guess some of it has rubbed off of me. He still makes me get out my old Martin and play the old songs from the 60's and 70's when he comes over. And he knows I have arthritus in my hands, but still has me bang away.  He was like Barny on mayberry RFD. I can't get used to him carrying a badge and gun yet. His first arrest is a funny story. He almost forgot how to say the Miranda rights.

Here is a link to the band. It was filmed by some friends

This thought may not be politically correct, but is an opinion offered. It may be correct? or it may be wrong? It is not designed to appease those needing shelter from the real world.

Behind every good kid is an even better parent. As I am learning, it's not easy raising kids, and it's really tough to be a parent, and even tougher to be a great parent.
Way to go Al. :clapping: your son sounds like a good guy.
Gee, I wonder where he gets that... :clueless: :roflsmiley:

Thanks for the comments guys.  All I could do was the father son talks and stand tall. My children seem to have their own goals, I would just coach them if the path would fork a bit.
