Date codes on manifolds
« on: August 30, 2009 - 02:37:11 PM »
This may be a question for Barry only. But how do I check date codes on these exhaust manifolds??
THANKS

You have to find them first. ;-)

Some of them can be hard to read on manifolds because the rust pits can be deep.

Take closeup photos of all the numbers you find & post them here.

2780501 1966-69 B-Body

2780508 1966-69 B-Body & 1970 E-body

The date codes are normally much smaller.

I can not read the date codes on my 340 manifolds either, they are too faint.

I do not know what the other numbers you found mean, if anything.

Barry as always I appreciate your help. I didn't think that meant anything either.

Sand cast they re tag each cast repair and or mod .these also tell the foundry a date along with casting info .every single part bar -none on every car has a cast code even plastic that will tell the maker time date and tooling . a totaly striped car with only 3 removable parts lets say heater box one a pillar plastic and tail light will tell an average time of build much the same as a block & trans combo. ;)
