Bushings and steering gearbox rebuild ?'s
« on: August 05, 2009 - 06:40:27 PM »
Anyone out there have some insight on poly bushings over Moog?  As far as I can tell Moog aren't poly they are just better quailty OE.  If I'm mistaken someone please straighten me out.  On my other posts I was told Moog and then I've had some other folks tell me to go poly.  So I put it to the experts.  If someone knows where to get this stuff for a good price let me know.

Anyone heard of or used Redhead Steering Gears in Seattle, WA for gearbox rebuilds?  I found them on the web, they have a 2 day turn around and seem to do a similar job to FirmFeel (i.e. tighting up the OE specs) for $70 cheaper.  I have NO experience with gearboxes so I am flying blind on this one, so any info would be great.

Thanks,

Yes Moog is a high quaility rubber bushing
generally I use the Energy poly bushings , they are very inexpensive & good quality

no feedback for you on Redhead Steering

I got my bushings, energy suspension all around, except Moog for the lower control arms.  Shipped my gear box to FirmFeel they should get it tomorrow.  Started the rebuild, few hang ups already but I hope to have her driving by early Sept.

Yeah I learned that was an option after I cut the old sheathes out, so I needed bushings with them on.  I got them in, not that bad, just banged up my powder coat a little bit...it happens.
