amp meter reading at idle at night?

 I own a '70 Cuda 4-spd.Should my amp meter reading be charging at night with my headlights on at ilde in neutral or should the amp meter be right in the middle?Is this normal?Or do I have electrical problem? :feedback:

it is normal for the car to be either dischaging or in the middle at idle

I bypassed my ammeter and it stays perfectly in the middle now. :grinno:

that is a faulty set up from the factory , bypassit so your harness dosent burn up.
