speedo gauge needle
« on: August 20, 2009 - 07:02:07 PM »
so the needle on my MPH gauge is broken (it doesnt work anyways right now, but hopefully soon, haha  :dunno:)

I have this type of gauges http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cuda-Challenger-70-72-Fact-Dash-Cluster-w-8-Grand-Tach_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem53dc6e8273QQitemZ360180515443QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

does anyone make replacement needles? How hard would it be to remove the lense to repair this?

Thanks

MPG or MPH?  The main line says MPG and then in the body says MPH.

Answer to your question is yes and not hard to do after you have the dash out.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

You didn't mention how it got broken, but if it was like our's, the new one will break too.  On our's, the bearing got dried out or worn in the speedo causing the needle to vibrate back and forth very quickly--the faster we drove the car, the louder the noise and the more violent the vibrating--until the needle broke.  So that half of a needle might be telling you that it's time to have the speedo professionally repaired.

Thanks, I never thought of that, I'll have to contact one of the above places and have it sent out and re-done.
