Oh no... more clutch questions
« on: September 26, 2010 - 12:26:51 PM »
So just when you think you have it figured out...

Again with a more powerful engine coming into play I figured I would go ahead for a good clutch while at it.
Currently a 3 finger B&B, cheap model.

Like I was saying, wanting to get this combo right, I'm looking at McLeod's PP & clutch.
So I guess I need to start with holding power.
#1 - Will at least 2200# hold on to the aprox. 500 HP 550 tq?
Will not see a ton of track time, plus at this point the car is not set up to "hook".
#2 - Looking again at P/N 360156 this is a B&B listed at $249 - P/N 360953 is a B&BL at $390, what gives? Can a B&BL offer THAT much easier pedal feel that it makes it a 150 more? Is there another reason?
#3 - Back to the B&BL - There is P/N 360950 all the way to 360955 with the diff being pounds of pressure and "counter weight". What ( counter weight ) is this and how does it apply to me? How to know if I want yes or no?

And finally, I was looking at the clutch discs and the 100 series seemed too light. Was looking at the 500 series.
Something with some bite but also wouldn't chatter on the street light to light.
Any input would be great, thanks!

Nope         I had to go get a 3400 lb set up. The pedal isnt hard either. Ask Don, I believe he has driven my car some.  The stock hp clutch was a no go, the muscle car clutch was a no go to.  I spent almost 1400 bucks in 30 days before I got a clutch that worked with my engine.   Dont buy an assembly that says up to 550 hp, buy a set up that will handle 700 hp and you are good to go

You want this clutch set up I pulled from the 499?  I guarantee it will hold it.  It's a 10.95 set up to.
