I have a friend looking for a 130 tooth flywheel for a cast crank 440 most all the ones on the market seem to be for internal balanced anyone know of a good source.

What about used did Chrysler make them back in the day?

Also does anyone know if the cast cranks are drilled for a 4 speed?

the old Engine manuals & I would assume the new ones to have a template ofr drilling holes in a neutral balance flywheel for a cast crank
most cast cranks are not drilled for 4 spd use so you woul dhave to drill the hole to clear the input shaft & use the Dakota roller brg for the pilot

Thanks CP what are the hazards for cutting the shaft nub(input shaft) off the transmission inorder for it to fit?

personallt I would rather bore the hole than trim the front 3/8" off the tranny , if you do you will need to taper the front of the shaft again , I am not sure how well it would work in any other car after that either

Did you ever get the template to drill the holes? I have it because I was given a free 440 -cast motor and All I run are 4 speeds. Another way a speed shop told me that they could make one was: Order an off balance B&M flex plate from Summit for a cast 440 . He can put it on his balancer and record the off-balance, then make my flywheel match off balance. Return the Flexplate to Summit for a refund.

It would be easier to drill the 3 holes following the template. You can do it yourself with a drill press.

I posted the pics here a while back. I'll look for them. They are in every Mopar Engine manual that I have. If I can rescan them if they are gone or you don't have the engine manual.

Remember, if you use 6pack rods and you don't have the special 6-pack balancer or flywheel, you'll have to have it internally balanced like I did. Mine vibrated so badly when I jumped on it that it cracked my 727 tailshaft in half. A Cast crank 440 also uses a special balancer and flywheel

not sure if it matters or not, but the flywheel that i got from 440 source had a weight on it that they said was for another motor. not sure what one it was but i still have the weight and bolts for it...

That is a McCleod Flywheel that has the bolt on weights for the different engines. those weights can only be used on their Flywheel that has the A-B and C weight positions.

If you friend wants to buy one and not modify a stock one by drilling holes, here is the link to McCleod. I always find swap meet flywheels or get them from friends. A friend just bought a brand new 130 tooth flywheel from Caterpiller. He said it was less that 1/2 the price of one from Summit. You might try them too.
