If you are running a slap stick floor shifter,make sure the extension housing has the two bosses that Al was referring to,if not you can swap it with one that does.

Yes you did.  How about the housings that have 5 clutches?  And the different Bands?  The valve body differences?  Just to name  a few things and the housing differences? 
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

The 727 that came in my 'cuda has #'s matching a '74 truck. Are there differences that will matter? I've never driven this car. Thanks!

It looks just like your picture. It was connected and worked with the slap stick when I got it, but I never drove the car on the road. Thanks for the help guys!

Send me a dozen and I'll tear'em apart! :bigsmile: But, I can't put them together again :1zhelp: Until I bought a 'Cuda, I didn't know how to find, drill and grind off a spot weld. Before I owned a 'Cuda I didn't imagine tearing all its skin off and then put it all back or realize there were so many #'s to know. 11", 56 1/2", 8 3/4", 2.02, 3:55, 26" If I had only started when you did I wouldn't need ask so often. This site helps tremendously, I try to read all the realivant posts. I'll know more about trannies when its time. Thanks again!

Dusty1....Same here!

I had never installed a tranny before in my life (41 years old).......this car required it....I didnt feel ballsy enough to try and rebuild it myself..."A man's got to know his limitations..."......Had a shop do it....but bought a tranny jack and, with the help of Terry and other folks here, I got her installed.

And it look like I might have to take it out and reinstall again to check the torque converter...but even though its a lot of work, I know I can do it now!   :2thumbs:

Both Terry and Gordon impress me with how much they know about the 727 ......that kind of knowledge is learned by good old fashioned EXPERIENCE!

For what its worth, my tranny is a van tranny (round hole in the top of the converter housing area)......I have my tranny numbers somewhere but dont know how to decipher what year it is..... :dunno:

There is a post here with all the #'s, that's how I found out what mine came out of.
