I have a question what would you do?
« on: September 01, 2009 - 08:41:48 PM »
I have recieved a couple of job offers for either over seas and here in the states.  Would you inform your boss about those with not knowing if you have a job or not for next year?
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I wouldn't say a thing until I knew if I had a job or not.  :grinno:  If it doesn't work out, no damage . . . if it does, then decide if you're gonna say anything or not.  BTW What kind of relationship do you have with your boss?    :dunno:  That makes a difference IMO.  :dunno:

I have never meet my boss.  We have a good relationship though and he really likes what I do it seems.  I think I could get either job without a problem.  One is for more money going overseas and the one staying here is a little less.  I did not apply for either job.  Thanks

Depends on how understanding your boss is. I have worked for companies, if they find out your checking out other opportunities they will ship you out the door. I have had others tell me good luck, and they are glad to see me trying to better myself. All depends on how your company acts to something like this.

Definitely don't say anything.

Would he tell you (more than 2 weeks) if he was going to let you go?

hold yer cards tight my friend. Don't drop your hand before all the cards are down. YOu never know who has the Ace....

Just be casual. Interview for the jobs- Like you said, you didn't solicit any offers.. Definitley let them know if you have o leave for an appointment....(not an interview)

Just be fair. When you know for sure just give the boss the proper notice if you are leaving. No new job, no harm. You sure don't need to put yourself on the Karma train tracks.  :2cents:
