B/RB oil pan removal

 Well looks like I have to drop the pan to figure out a noise. Its a deep sounding "dung" type of sound that isn't consistant, it goes away when it warms up and it doesnt happen on each revolution either. Kinda like dung...dung...dung,dung...dung. Anyway most think either the crank/rods are hitting the oilpan or windage tray or oil p/u tube is loose etc. How much fun is to remove the pan on a 383/727 w/ tti 1.75 tube headers? Anychance of leaving the headers on?

I'm not sure of differences between different body styles since you didn't mention what car this is for. But for an E-body, it's fairly simple. Just drop the center link. You can leave it connected on one end and just swing it out of the way. Then you can get to all the pan bolts and drop it straight down without any other interferences. The headers will not be an issue. I believe this is true with other body styles. Good luck & I hope it's not too serious!! Keep us posted!

 Thanks Matt. Yes it's a e-body,   I will have to loosen/remove the trans cooler lines but it's time for a trans service anyways.

 Well pans off, the only obvious thing is the oil p/u tube was loose and able to hit the windage tray witha "dung" Everything else looks fine. The windage tray got a little bent so will have to be left off for now. So, could it just  be the oil tube and should I use loctite this time? I had to use brush on plumbers tape because I could'nt get the tube tight and fit with the windage tray. It's a repo Hemi pan with the 3/8 pick up tube set.

I would get it as tight as possible , not sure locktite would help with thread sealer though , bend the windage tray back & re-install it , it helps to have it in there
