LOW profile air cleaner?

It looks like I'm going to have 1 1/2'' - 2'' between the Carburetor and my Flat Ganny hood after I get my new motor in.....
Two questions;
1. Is that enough room for the engine to breath?
2. Is there a real low profile air cleaner that will fit in there?

 I would like to avoid the cost and hassle of a taller hood...........................................

Hah! I have the same problem. A high rise intake manifold that the dyno test showed worked a lot better with a 3/4" spacer on top. Then the carb. Tried a low profile air cleaner, but that interfered with the choke and the fuel inlet. Solution was yet another 1/2" spacer on top of the carb, and a banjo fitting on the fuel inlet.

Putting the air cleaner on, and a bit of clay on the top, showed it was too tall. I flipped the dished top upside down, now there's 1/4" of clearance. I guess that'll have to do.

 I think I'll remove the choke, I only run in warmer weather anyway....
Can you show a pic of the Air Cleaner you use/d ?
If you're not going to use your Air Cleaner, is it for sale?

Here's the air cleaner, installed. I cut the carb stud so I could use a flat plate for the top part instead of the inverted dish, which I think blocks the airflow too much. I don't think just having the top part would do you much good 

There's 1/4" between the carb stud and the hood.

Stock box might work they are not real tall....element is 2.75"tall
   I can get measurements if your interested in one of these styles
      on the bottom one you can use a shorter filter..

Whatever you do, dont get one of those large super thin air cleaners that use the entire top of the air cleaner for air intake. They are usually covered with a piece of foam and some type of wire mesh.

A friend of mine had one on his car when it backfired. The foam caught fire and the mesh did absolutely nothing. The result was a very big burn spot in the middle of his hood before he realized what was going on and could get it open.

If you're not going to use your Air Cleaner, is it for sale?

On a lark, I decided to see how well the old air cleaner fit. Day-umm, it fits better than the low profile one! So, my low profile one is now for sale. The only difference between it and new is I'm keeping the filter element, and I cut the stud that goes into the carb, so I'll keep that. Both are trivially replacable.
