Disk Brakes
« on: September 21, 2009 - 01:15:39 PM »
I ordered the Magnum Force drop spindles and was wanting to use a big brake kit from Wilwood or possibly Dr Diff.
Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Diff's disk brakes with the Viper caliper.  On his web site it states that his is a 14 inch rotor.  Is this the same kit from AR Engineering with Viper calipers included and a larger rotor?  I would really like to use the Viper caliper kit because of the sealed pistons.

I am unfamiliar with the Dr Diff offerings, but if it is a 14" rotor then it is likely not the same as the AR Engineering 13" rotor kit. The ARE 13" kit only will work with disc brake spindles. The ARE 11.75 kit will only work with drum spindles. It is not designed to mount to disc spindles. Either of the 13 or 14 inch kits will require a 17" or larger wheel.

Send him an email.

Cass (Dr Diff) is very helpful and won't steer you wrong.

Have you priced Viper calipers?  You may want to consider SSBC.

You can get used Viper calipers for around $500 a pair, add another $400 if you want them rebuilt and you've got a pair for under a grand. This is $800 less than the Just Suspension Brembo conversion, plus you get the bigger 11.75 rotors whereas JS only offers an 11" rotor.
