Speedometer acting funny, and I don't know why.
« on: September 23, 2009 - 04:20:17 AM »
Goint to post a few of my '70 Challengers many ills.  I'm trying to do the tighten up on a few issues before I tackle some improvement projects.

I|I ust got the car today.  I noticed the speedo started out at 15 mph.  It otherwise worked fine, just subtract 15 mph from your speed and you are good to go.  Then it was stuck at 30 mph,  now 50!

Searching around, and from previous experience I think it may be the cable.  Is there a possibility it is bound or just needs lube?  Or could it be shot?

You can certainly try some sewing machine oil in the speedo mechanism...just don't get crazy.

See if u can find an old timer mopar mechanic. I have heard that they used to have an adaptor that threaded onto their grease gun. Pump a coupla shots in and away u go.
If I cant fix it, it's broke
