Thinking about this gauge in the clock delete?

I'm thinking about buying this for a tach and installing it in the clock delete on my standard (non-rally) dash. Surely someone has been down this road before? Any pictures of gauges installed in the clock delete?  Any "watch out for ...."Looking for ideas?

That looks cool I have seen some one with a red ta clone422 (73?) with that tach.... Tom maybe????

I have something similar but not dash mounted.  I was thinking of doing that one in the green tint, but went for the surface mount style in the corner.

I bought a tach from rt-specialties, if I recall right,  for my cluster. I also removed & modified the original alt meter with the parts from after market oil pressure gauge.

Looks great! :2thumbs: I saw that tach at Carlisle for sale it looks good! Almost bought it.I just wonder about accuracy and durability? Tom took me for a few rides in his Challenger ( Above) I liked that look. I've never had a digital tach before.
 How does the oil pressure gauge work? What do the #'s represent? Not PSI?

I once installed a cheap mini tach in my standard gauge cluster. It fit in fairly well and worked fine for a while. It died quick though, like not even a year. I never replaced it and at the time wished I had put a better tach in there. I dig the pics of the gauge cluster from kapteenikosmos, that looks pretty sharp   :woo:

Actually it is in BAR:s and for example 70 psi is about 4.8 Bar. The costs for making that gauge was less than 30$. The original "ricertuner" type gauge I gutted for the internals was 25$ or so and the printing shop took 1$ for 4 face plates printed on a paper with a sticker back.

The problem with the redline oil gauge was that I could use only it or the tach on the clock delete. I wanted them both on the instrument cluster and in my opinion the alt meter is next to nothing in the terms of importance and that's why I decided to swap it with the oil gauge. I'll probably add an idiot light for the alternator into the cluster also.

Only thing I was not satisfied was that the tach I bought had different color needle than rest of the gauges. I was thinking of painting them all with a same color but then run out of patience and put it back together.

Well, I sincerely thank you for posting the pics of your work.  If you remember exactly what off brand Oil gauge you used, I'd like to know.  Also where did you get the print file you took to the printers?

I still have the box for the oil pressure gauge. The brand is "Autogauge", just like this but with Bar scale instead of Psi.

The actual gauge isn't very accurate as I tested it at my workplace (I work as a researcher on the field of hydraulics at a university). The hysteresis was something like 20% or so, but I think that it is mainly caused by the sending unit. Anyway I think it as a idiot light that just looks bit better. It's not the exact numbers I'm looking while driving my car, more like a warning if the needle starts to drop or otherwise behaves odly. I will hook up a mechanical gauge directly to the block when breaking in the engine.

The mounting screw holes on the autogauge are almost dead on to the holes that were for the rivets on the original alt assembly. Only minor filing in sideway direction and on the center hole where the needle comes through was needed to bolt it right up. As for the face plate picture file, I think that I still have it on my computer. I did it with paint shop pro by using the scanned image of the original face plate as a help to get the lines to the right place. I can send it to you if you like, just send me your email by private msg or such.

I also have couple of stickers left (I printed four and used only two, one was for practice) which I can send out to anyone who wants for the price of mailing.

I have a extra  gaude cluster comming to "experiment with" So If I don't like it I can always go back to stock! (Thanks resq302 )
