I'm looking for someone who will grind a mech roller cam to match my flat tappet cam.. approximately.

240 duration  @ .050 and .510 lift.. 110 centerline. Who would make this type of grind for me on a mech roller?? The mopar roller I see are for all out racing and are not nearly this small, although this would be one of the larger purple cams.

I have another question.. I have the offset Mopar roller rockers for my T/A heads on my 340. They get VERY hot.. burned myself when i took the valve covers off. There is a lot of oil up there so i can't understand why they would be sooo hot. Any insights to this would also be appreciated.

Any good cam grinder should be able to help you , Contact Mark @ Engle cams , Harold from Ultradyne cams is now at Lunati , or try Jim @ Racer Brown cams

Chryco - Thanks much!1 When I did a roller cam search on the web - I found your summary on cam dynamics.. very informative and to the point for the laymen (me).

I actually spoke to Richard @ Lunati.. they have a chevy "streetable" mech roller grind.. 248° @ .050 w/ .550 lift..that he said they prob could do for a sb mopar. That is pretty close to what I have in there now.. think I'd like to go with a  110 centerline. I want this car to pull through the whole band (2200-6000).. not just for 1/4 mile.

Can you tell me why my offset roller rockers would be so hot?? Is this normal? I have the correct pushrods and there's a lot of oil getting to them..  Maybe this is not a problem.. not sure.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's a problem.  All that heat from the combustion chamber is being transmitted to the rocker arms via the valves and the head itself.  You have to remember there are literally thousands of explosions going on just a few inches below your rockers.  You wouldn't go grabbing onto your header primary tubes would you?  All the hot gas is being sent out the rear of your car through them.  I could be wrong, but thats just what I would think.  I'm really not trying to be a smartass either. :P

i agree with CudaCody can't think of a reason a rocker would get hot enless its starving for oil......and it could be the type of metal it is made otu of it might conduct more heat than what a standard rocker would.....i bet if you ran your buddies car for awhile got it up to temp i bet the valve covers would burn you too....

 I have heard that Scott is good too but I have never used one of his cams
 The rocker are I assume aluminum? They will act as a heat sink & absorb a ton of heat , as long as they are not galling or siezing it would seem to be ok

All the new cars run roller cams.. for a reason. I think everyone else would if the cost came down and found a grind that would work for them.

I know this is an old thread, but apparently there is an oil related mod necessary for rolling a 340, as the roller lifters may have a relief in them that causes a loss of oil pressure down below.  Mopar Muscle mag recommends plugging some of the oil from getting to the lifters, as rollers don't need as much anyway.  This keeps the oil pressure higher below.  I think if you use lifters with no taper or relief in them, this will not be a problem, but I'm not sure on that.  The artilcle on this is online at MMMag.
