Calipers?

I have a 70 Challenger with the big rotor set up ( 73 spindles etc...) I have pin type calipers. I want to get new ( rebuilt) ones? I'm changing the flex lines so I might as well get new calipers too. Do I just order calipers for a 70 Challenger?
I ask because I know there are 2 types of calipers ,pin ,and sliders type. I don't know which one is stock for a 70 Challenger?

If you are using the 73 spindles and caliper brackets...I would think you need to order 73 Challenger  calipers.  I have two new calipers for my Challenger that I bought from CarQuest years ago.

My '73 has the pin type, factory original,  if that helps. :dunno:

I believe all E bodys with disc brakes had Pin type
 no issue anyway , just order a pin type caliper , I have a pair of 12" brake adapters with pin type so I think they used them into 76 or 77 on Cordobas

I've used slider and pin.  Pin is better in my opinion.  They both get the job done but I felt that the pin did a better job.  Of course I upgraded to a 11.75 setup compared to the aftermarket drum upgrade.  So that may have influenced how it handled.

I am collecting parts for my upgrade, using 11.75 rotors and sliders.

Seems that some feel the pins are better, some sliders.

I went with 80 NYer parts and they are sliders.

They're really not that hard to re build. You just need the rebuild kits, silicone grease, Compressed air to remove the pistons, and a caliper brake pad spreader. Albeit, no more than $35.00 bucks altogether.

Here's video on how to do it. Basically, re building them is the same regardless of year, make, or model. The differences are how the pads go on.

For a typical street n strip hot rod I use the smaller rotors, they will stop the car fine for a couple of high speed stops in a row.  I would use the larger rotors for application where acceleration isn't the goal, or where high capacity brakes are the goal (tow vehicle, road racer, street cruiser).

I rebuilt my calipers. The seal kits were about $2.25 each from a local auto parts store.
