2nd to 3rd shift seems fine but no tire chirp
« on: October 13, 2009 - 06:20:34 PM »
Got two days of drive time with my rebuilt 904 trans with the cheetah manual valve body. Seems to be working great, the 1st to 2nd shift at WOT at 6500 rpms chirps the tires nice (for like half a second) but not as long as it does part throttle at around 4000 rpms. That is fine with me, in fact better for lower ets. However I have yet to hear even a tiny chirp  during the 2nd to 3rd shift at any rpms or throttle opening postions.

Could I make it better playing with the kickdown band adjustment / should I make it looser. Have no idea were it is set at, 2 turns-2 1/2 truns-no idea.

I know I could drop the oil pan and increase the line pressure but 1st to 2nd is perfect IMO, so just like to firm up the 2nd to 3rd shift which seems quick, just too peaceful. lol.

Not all Torqueflites will get a "third gear scratch",it depends on other things too like engine torque, gear ratio, weight of the car and internal stuff inside the transmission.
