Didnt know where this topic would belong so I stuck it here in Off topic....

I am in the middle of a drama involving my tranny...got it as a used , condition unknown deal, along with my car.....sent it to a shop to be redone and...well, they have had it twice already and it looks like they still missed something.  I am right now wrestling with what to do...go back a THIRD time (tearing the tranny out and then reinstalling myself again) or go elswhere...

Before that, I took the car to have a magnaflow exhaust bolted in and they screwed it up so I had to fight them for a refund so I could go to another shop to have it done proper.

So, I started thinking...am I the only one who is a "schmuck magnet"?

Let;s hear your stories.....I am hoping they will make me feel better...LOL

  • 70 Challenger R/T SE 70 tube Chassis Cuda now sold
This is basically why I have learned to do virtually everything myself , I had 3 sets of 1/4 panels welded onto my Duster by 3 different shops  before they got it right
I have had every engine I have built for 4 years machined wrong until I found my current machinist , last year a friend had an engine machined & they put the pistons in the wrong holes & bent the intake valve as well as a lot of other problems

Proir to buying a house I thought it would of been a good idea to have my car restored so I wouldn't have to pay for it later.  I searced a lot of shops and ended up picking one that did a few of my friends cars and was a;so known for top notch work.  Long story short, as the progress seemed to have slowed down on my car and some things were dinging that somethings wrong bell.  I tried to get my car back. But for some reason I couldn't get a hold of the guy. Well turned out that he killed himself.  Weeks went by without knowing what was up with my car as no one could get in the shop. I left a note on the door and got a lawyer.  When I got a call to go down and get my car and look for my parts that also didn't sound good. When I got there I could tell that people were in there and who knows what was taken from who.  I managed to find most of my parts but alot of stuff that I bought as upgrades were missing.  I can only assume that the guy that had the Charger in there took them but who knows.
Nothing like driving a car in and not even knowing where your wheels are when you get it back. Let alone the boxes and boxes of parts and bolts.

So does that work for making you feel better Shadango? lol

Bought my car and it needed patch panels and paint. Had 4 people all look at my car and give me a price of 9k. Only one guy could do it now, as the others were years away. I had checked his work and he was highly praised. Long story and 3 years later,  I gave him 13k and he wanted at least 10k more. THen, I paid 1200 for the interior of headliner in, carpet in and front seats recoverd. I had already bought all the pieces. I had to get it all redone. The motor came in 1800 over for no reason. My glass didn't fit, the windows had to be re-installed and the front window moulding won't stay on. I have done almost everything twice. Funny- I dtook precautions and am not one to mess with, but boy oh boy :violin:
