What color to make Taillight Panel on 73 Challenger
« on: October 25, 2009 - 04:51:43 PM »
My car is now B5 Blue as you probably know from another thread. I'd like to make the taillight panel and t/l housings the correct textured argent, but if that doesn't work out, what's a good second choice?

Feel free to post example pics.

Thanks  :swaying:

Q-man, are you interested at all in the original silver sparkle finish?   Have yet to do it but I am working on a fairly simple plan to replicate...

Hi Wade

Yes, that's my #1 choice which I may attempt with Totally Auto's Argent spray bomb. Not sure if one can will cover the filler strip, end fillers, PLUS the center section and housings. This is why I'm weighing other options.

However, if you have a "Fairly simple plan"........

I'm partial to gloss black.  Hood scoops also.

Not really a paint color, more like silver metal flake in a clear coat

Depends on the body color, some colors look better than others.  Did mine body color:

If you are going to go with black...use the correct organisol black that the 72 Rallye's used.  It has a nice fine texture to it.

I went with semigloss black, which I also used on the grille assembly. I'll probably paint the actual grill in bit different shade of black, mayby even pure flat black. Anyway, looks good so far. Hard to say how it looks when the car is totally back together.
