Removing Fader Switch
« on: October 25, 2009 - 10:27:57 PM »
I have a fader switch that will be sold to a member here. Trouble is I have no clue how to get the kob of to remove it from the dash. There is a litle tab behind the knob but levering it towards the dash or in the opposite direction still does not release it from the fader shaft. Can somebody please advise how these things come off.

For an E-Body rotary dimmer, the knob should just pull straight off the shaft...

It is not the dimmer it is the rear speaker fader dial. And the knob is loose on the shaft but still will not pull off. I have not reefed on it but it is tender and I do not want to wreck it. I see the shaft is keyed with the flat side. Might be rusted on after all these years.

I'm guessing the it have welded itself on there. It should just pull off. I'm not sure what to suggest to help you out here. A heat gun would just soften the plastic and cause it to deform when you tugged on it.   :clueless:

if the shaft has a flat side the knob will have a spring retainer clip inside , it therefore should pull off if you pry hard enough
