black on a 70 cuda
« on: December 02, 2009 - 05:01:13 AM »
I am trying to decide on the color for my 70 cuda' I’m using photos on the internet to assist me in my choice. I’m currently leaning towards black but from pictures on the internet it looks like it hides the body lines. Could I please get some one else’s opinion on this who has actually seen a black 70 in person?

Well, I may be a little bias, but I think black looks great on a '70. And I've never felt that the black hides the body lines.

Any nicely painted black cuda I have seen looks great.  Don't think you can go wrong with black.  Mine was black when I bought it.  I changed the color because there were already 2 black ones in town and I wanted to be different so I painted it blue.  A couple people did comment that the body lines of the car showed up better after it was painted blue, I hadn't really noticed.

I think black is the best color out there for any muscle car if it's straight enough. I will admit it does somewhat wash out the horizontal body line of the cuda, but just look at them they're awsome in black.

I bought a brand new Triple black '70 'Cuda in Oct '69.    Great looking car and I got lots of compliments.  My current '70 project 'Cuda was originally yellow, but will also be triple black when it's done.  Can't go wrong with black as long as the body is perfect!!
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.  Matching numbers 440 U Code, 4 speed pistol grip, Rallye dash, AM 8 Track, Shaker hood, 15 inch rallye wheels, Dana 60 4.10, Super Track Pak.  One of 134 - 440 "U" coupes codes built in 1970 and one of 100 - 440 Super Track Paks built in 1970.
