71 cuda fender gill ?
« on: November 04, 2009 - 09:17:36 PM »
At one point in the past I must of thought that the gill inserts on my car would look cool -- all chrome -- so I started to remove the paint on the inside of the gills. Now I need to put them back to original.  They are a real light gray in color.  Does anyone know the proper paint code or where I can get any.  Would this be like a light silver argent kinda like a grill color maybe. Here's a pic of what I need.  Thanks   Doug

I cant answer your question but I have a similar problem, with some of the argent type paint peeling off the polished inner areas.
Not sure how to touch them up but they look like they will be a pita to get them right.

If you want it to be a dead on match, I would contact Resto Rick. If he doesn't know, then contact Scott Smith (Harms) One of them should give you the right info.

I've seen the new reproduction ones. The paint thickness and color tone are not correct. OEM louver paint was a very thin layer.

Not true at all. I resto for a living and many are spot on. They spend a lot of time mixing up "near-exact" matches. (It's tough to do, but I find many of them pretty good).

At totallyauto they may have misunderstood what part of the gill I was asking about. I thought it was light argent, but they said it's called "restoration silver".
Is that the color??

The original color is more of a light grey than it is a silver.
