    DID YOUR NEW CHALLENGER HAVE THAT NEW CAR SMELL ?

    When I purchased new cars in the past & my wifes new 2014 forester they all had that "new car smell" My 2013 challenger had a "kind of new car smell" I think it is the "nappa leather trimmed seats but she said she doesn't like the smell of the interior & she doesn't think it has the new car smell. mine is a 2013 R/T plus & I admit, it doesn't smell like the new cars I have had. I saw on the 200 tips & tricks post in the forum here that some 2013 challengers had the weatherstrip rubber contaminated and there is a service bulletin I found that says the rubber on some 2013 & I think 12s can be replaced. Did any of your challengers have that "new car smell" we all know or do the challenger interiors with the big rubberized dash have something to do with that. on the recall list it is the 8th one down that says 2013

    OVERVIEW:
    This bulletin involves replacing all door weatherstrip seals and decklid seals on select
    models.

    NOTE: This applies to vehicles built after November 26, 2012 (MDH1126XX) and
    before November 30, 2012 (MDH1130XX).
    SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
    The door weatherstrip seals on all models and decklid weatherstrip seals on 300's and
    Chargers have been contaminated during part processing and it will create an odor in the
    passenger compartment.
    DIAGNOSIS:
    If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other
    customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

    I don't find my new car smell to be offensive.  I sometimes smell it on my clothing while I'm at work.  I believe that it's the leather seats contributing that.

    I'm sure it will start to subside as the car gets used and aired out.

    While we all like that new car smell most of the smell is the plastics gassing off which is basically toxic fumes. :violin:

    I do agree it is not the normal new car smell. Can't describe it and it does not bother me. What gets me is the coolant smell. However, I could not find any leak outside or inside. The coolant level also did not change since day one. Totally clueless.

    It doesn't bother me either but the wife doesn't like it. I think it is the nappa leather. the rubber weatherstripping contamination was forcars built after  nov.26 2012 and before nov. 30 2012. mine was made on oct. 12 2012 so I guess mine is ok.
