Need Help...727 Rear seal leak and yoke "slop"
« on: March 08, 2010 - 11:48:59 AM »
My 727 rear tailshaft seal is leaking so I put it on the ramps over the weekend and discovered that I have some slop between the yoke and trans. output spline shaft.  Im not that experienced with this trans. but have been told there is a sleeve or bushing in addition to the seal in the tailshaft.  I know the seal itself is easily enough removed but what about this bushing?  Does it require a special tool to remove and install?  If not, any tricks to its removal or installation?   Would prefer to do it myself if possible.

Sounds like I'll have to take it to a tranny shop then huh?......no tricks to be able to get it out without the tool?

no , the tailshaft limits the room to work in , you could drain the trans & remove the tailhousing to get at the bushing
