Man that is a huge golf club in your neighborhood!
Ok, here's what I want you to do.  Walk into your local State Troopey's Office and ask the same question of them. Say "isn't trespassing on open ground the same as walking into someones house who's door happened to be opened?"  Either them or your local FBI office will do.

Also, try to maneuver yourself so that the conversation is heard my many Officers at once.  And can you have someone video taping for us/me?  Please?

I've actually spoken with my State "Troopey's" as you call them.  And they do agree with me.  They said that when it is someone's private property you do not have the right to walk upon it in ANY case unless you are let upon by the owner.  You are breaking the law and can be arrested when trespassing.  You just probably won't get shot out in the open, while in the house you might.

I regret sharing this pic with you now, and it will never happen again.  You have to realize that things are not the same all around the country. For the most part, people in my area are very friendly people.  If my door was open, and someone came in, needing to get out of the cold and watch tv...I would make them some coffee.  If calling me stupid because I "trespassed" and took a pic of an old car makes you feel better about youself, then go right ahead.  I never said that trespassing was right.  I just let you argue with yourself.  y'all take it easy ;)

Cool find on some nice old Mopars. Even though the thread is 3 years old, it is nice to get updates.  It would have been nice if the owner would have been willing to let them go. Well, now you have their contact information. It might prove fruitful to call them all along and see if their position has changed. Who knows, they might change their minds and sell them to you just to get you to stop calling...     :grinyes:
As far as the legality of going on the land to check out the cars, that is a call the individual would have to make. While it is technically tresspassing, in the end, it is your call. IF you know the folks and the area and as you said they are friendly and you felt comfortable, then do it. I think a smile and friendly demeanor on your end will get you a long way towards making friends with the owners. If you are not sure of the folks that own the cars/land, then don't get on the property until you have their permission. I have done it both ways. When I know the folks and the area, I have ventured onto the property and met new friends, even drug a nice '68 Bee out of the woods one time. If I don't know, then I don't go. I will contact them first. In all my travels chasing these old cars, I have only been refused entry 1 time, and that was over the phone, not while I was on the property. I think you can kinda get a feel for the situation and make a decision based on all the information you have. I know, it is still technically tresspassing, and I am not advocating that, I just think for the most part, folks don't mind if you are up front with them. I have always left them with my name and contact information when I leave. That has lead me to more than one car just by making those connections.   :cooldancing:

Well said Ken!

:iagree: It was well said and thought out.  I wish more people had respect for other peoples private property like you do.

If they did, there wouldn't be threads like this that go on.

Carpe Diem.

Aahhhh, what a work week!

Excellent post Ken.

Ryan, this post went on and on because you can't take a hint.  Had nothing to do with respecting other peoples private property.   :-*

No, it went on because some people don't want to admit they're wrong and won't let it die.  Like this thread was until you had to bring it back.

Nothing much can be added to the original context of the first post. The rest of this stuff is a never ending arguement and as far as this thread goes, it is over.....
