Dash Bezel Paint

I started to clean all the plastic on my dash, and the two bezels that go around the radio and the heater control unit have some kind of wrinkle paint on them. What kind of paint is this and what is the best way to paint this palstic, mine has started to peel off in places.

I am working on my dash also but mine is just black plastic it's got the ribbed plastic.I am still learning as I go but by what I have seen so far there are many differences in dash parts.I have three dashes apart right now one 70 challenger,72 challenger and a 70 barracuda and most of the stuff is in the playroom,my wife has been giving me the evil eye when she looks in there.Heres a few shots of the different finishes that I have seen. I guess we have uncovered another Mother Mopar mess.  OK, I know some lower dash parts had ribs, or crinkle paint. I can't say what was what.  On my 70 Challenger with Rally gauges, the lower trim parts were a semi-gloss black crinkle paint(my best guess).

The black plastic parts of the dash were not painted originally. (except for the silver highlight paint around the borders here and there, and the lettering)

I should have stated this is a ralley dash from a 70.

Mek mine has that crinkle finish like you stated, when I was cleaning the parts today it just started to flake off when I blew it dry with the compressor. 

Clown In you first pick your radio bezel looks the same texture as mine and in your second pic it looks like the paint if that what is is has worn away at the bottom 

Also the holes that you view the guages through also have paint on the inside. Maybe for glare??

The paint looks factory and it is just flat black or the crinkle finish as stated above.

I saw a thread on this awhile ago and a couple members gave a couple of recommendations.
1. The same paint as used for the air cleaner wrinkle finish
2. Rustoleum textured black available at Lowes - he claimed it was a "dead match".

Lunch box The radio bezal is from the cuda dash its supposed to be ribbed on mine.Mine is a non rally as you can see and there is no paint on the plastic except the silver outline on the gauges as Barry said.
Mekrunner Its a real mopar mess but I will be breaking down that dash to switch out a better dash frame.I just wanted to make sure I had everything,Plus I am not looking forward to removing the 70 dash pad.Right now it has no cracks just a couple of flaws Where a tach might have been.And I should have the last ribbed part tommarow,I am headed out to meet grundy and pick up some parts.

I realize this is an old thread, but it deals precisely with the issue I am having with my dash pieces.  In JayBee's post he recommends Rustoleum Textured Black from Lowes as a good solution to repairing the textured finish on the plastic (non-ribbed) facia pieces for a '70 Cuda rally dash.  Can anyone confirm that this works?

Actually, someone else recommended that Rustoleum paint. I ended up using Harley Davidson Wrinkle Finish paint (see pic) and am really happy with the results. The paint wasn't cheap though, up here anyway. I think it was like $24.98 plus tax. Having the room temperature at least 70 degrees was real important to get the paint to wrinkle. I ended up having to strip my pieces and doing it twice because the room I initially used was too cold.

Back from the dead 

I bought some wrinkle spray paint from Eastwood but had yet to try it yet. Ill have to keep the HD paint in mind if this other stuff dosen't work.
