The hole on the right side is 3/8 though.

There is one 1/4" and two 3/8" holes on that manifold. In the coolant circuit at least. My manifold is below, it's a performer rpm which has the same ports as the air gap. The left is 1/4" (autometer electric water temp gauge), the brass temp sender next to it is 3/8" (painless e-fan temp sender), the t-stat is in the middle, to the right of the t-stat is another 3/8" plug.

We just got back, I forgot the camera. I would have liked to show pictures of this. It '' WAS '' a 1/4'' or maybe a 5/16'' hole. But it was not 3/8, I know some of you think this is not possible....but I have no reason to BS anyone.

 I just drilled it with a 9/16'' drill bit and tapped it with a 3/8'' NPT tap.

NOW, it is 3/8'' and the fitting is in place.
