fuel line questions
« on: December 15, 2009 - 05:04:59 PM »
Hey all,

My question(s):

Iam getting ready to install my rebuilt 383 mag(+.30 over) in my 70 chall.  While I am at it, I would like to update some parts.
The car has been sitting unused for long periods of time and the tank has bad gas in it.  I cleaned and sealed the inside of the tank w/ gas tank sealer about 10 years ago.  The fuel lines on the car (from front to back) are original.

Q #1:  In your opinion, should I just spend the $60 for new fuel line from front to back?

Q#2 : Is there a product or chemical that will disolve varnish deposits in the tank without harming the seal coating?

Q#3 : Will the 5/16" line provide adequate fuel delivery for my rebuilt 383? (The sending unit is probably 5/16" and the fuel
         pump is 5/16")  would 3/8" be overkill?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

You can get by with the 5/16" lines, but if the fuel pump is old, I think I would swap that out too. The rubber diaphragm could be showing age.
