SE leather seat question?
« on: December 17, 2009 - 05:18:21 PM »
Hi all!
I have 74 seats and belts in my 70 Challenger ( came that way) Sometime in the future I'd like to upgrade to the leather seats from an SE Challenger.( both front and rear) What do I need to do this? Can I just get the upholstery kit and recover the seats I have? Or do I need to get 70-71 seats? I assume the foam is different? The seats I have don't have the seat covers in the back, so I know I'll need that.
I need a dash first, so this won't happen anytime soon, but just planning ahead for swap meet shopping, or if I come across a deal?
Thanks in advance for the education!
Thanks Brad

Dont know about the rear seats, but for the fronts....74 seats are different from 70 - foam is different, frame is different, backs are different, just about everything is different. You will need 70/71 seat frames, preferably 70 frames because they have the correct latch location. You will also need the correct seat foams and I believe you will need seat tracks as well. So basically.....everything. Figure on spending over 1k for the seats (500 skins, 200 foam, 200 for seats, + installation) These seats are not cheap.... :pullinghair: Sorry

THE REAR SEATS WERE NOT LEATHER IN THE se  , I agree that the later seat frames will not take the std leather covers or the hard backs but the rails should be the same

The 70 SE leather used the same seat foam as the standard interior of the 71 Challengers.
