And how rare is a hood mounted tach? Was that a dealer installed item or?
The hood tachs were a part that Chrysler sold at the parts counter. Some were probably installed by the dealers, but mainly they were purchased by customers who installed it themselves. I remember in the late 70's shortly after I bought my T/A, someone told me about these hood tachs. I asked someone in the Special Interest Auto Club in another state about if he'd heard of them. He wrote me back excited because he'd gone to his local dealer to ask about them, and they still had one in stock he was able to purchase.
I'd be interested in knowing when these were first made available, I doubt they were available in '70, I am guessing they first appeared around '72.
