Shiftball Question

I am having difficulty removing the shiftball from the shift mechanism. Automatic - Slapstick - 70 Challenger. There is a allenhead setscrew that I removed but cannot pull the plastic shifbutton away from the ball. Any Ideas here?

It's been a while, but I think the plastic button unscrews.
Try twisting it. It will take a few turns, but it's held in by a spring.

Probably more than a few turns...LOL. Turn the whole enchilada, the button is keyed to the ball. Once you get to the end, the button will pop out, so be ready to catch it and the spring!
