1971 Challenger Hemi
« on: June 29, 2008 - 02:27:19 PM »
I bought the car out of Texas January 1st 2007.  The car has had alot of rust repairs.  The previous owner installed a 4-link and massive subframe connectors and retained the stock frame rails and floor.  Last summer I started building a motor for the car.  I was going to build a mild Hemi for it and my friend Darren Tedder started making suggestions. :violin:

The motor;

572ci Hemi
HP Performance Aluminum Block 4.5" bore
Bryant Billet Crank 4.5" stroke
Oliver Billet Rods 7.1" (BBC)
Diamond Billet Pistons 11:1 cr
Stage V Racing Heads cnc ported by Modern Cylinder Head
Milodon Gear Drive
Custom Crower Solid Roller Cam
Calico Coated Bearings
Milidon External Oiling System
Stage V Dual Quad Intake
Holley 830cfm Carbs (pair)

This will be backed by a Stick (hence the scattershield)

Nice!!

It's a shame you won't be able to see those pretty pistons when you are done.

Very cool project.  I see you're in Norwich.  I'm in Texas now, but grew up just down the road in North Stonington.  That's one he11 of a coffee table you have there to hold all that motor.  Definitely keep us updated.  :2thumbs:

I got a new hood, trunk lid, and new valances for my Challenger. I am saving up for a pair of new fenders.  Also I am getting a new engine block.  I was offered to trade in my prototype block for a production version which has a lot of improvements and I accepted. I only had the short block assembled.  My new block will hopefully be ready in a couple months.  Sorry for the slow progress for anyone that was waiting for my car to be finished
