I cringe when someone asks how to polish their chrome trim   That would destroy Aluminum

Not to fall off the subject cliff any further, but the stainless around the windows isn't chrome either.

But the D O D G E letters that are the subject of this thread ARE chrome (copper/nickel/chrome plated pot metal that is).

There. Back on track.

I had one for sure.  May have been really rare but it was factory installed.  I replaced it with the anodized aluminum.   I know that was correct.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Interesting...

I poured through my '70 dealer code book and did not come up with any option code for D-O-D-G-E lettering other than it was part of all power bulge hoods.

As for the hood front trim being painted this would have to mean that it was likely that the leading edge "bright" areas of the healight bezels had to be painted to match the hood trim otherwise it would not look right.  How did your bezels look?

The headlight bezels were chrome.  It did not look right to me so I ordered the chrome piece for the hood as well.  It also had a bumble bee strip on the rear.  It had two trim tags but I dont have the coding for it anymore.
