AMD Core Support
« on: January 26, 2010 - 12:29:49 PM »
Has anyone used the AMD core support on a 71 Cuda. Wondering how fit and look is on it, considering just getting one instead of moding a 22" one to 26".

Also how about a good source for one, I see some listed on E-Bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390004178924

I'd mod the old one.

DOn't want to lose the VIN that's on there.

PG CLassic/BE&A makes a conversion kit that keeps the majority of the support.  Unless your's is totally hosed.

I changed my 22 to a 26 by replacing the right section of the support with the one you can buy for 90 bucks. It fit perfectly and it took about 5 hours to do.

 :iagree:

unless your upper tie is bad or the left panel, really no need to replace the whole thing, the right panels fits good and easy to put in.

The panel arrived yesterday.
The overall look of the panel is it will fit and function , but for accuracy it is not OEM correct in the small details.
The wiring looms are wrong as well as the mounting nuts are wrong also.
Here is some pictures to compare.

I know, just wanted anyone needing OEM correct to know.
Great part if the details are not a concern.

Thanks for the pictures that does help. I will have to take a little closer look at the original one, I think it had some rust where it attaches to the drives side inner fend. It is repairable but it is a matter of is it worth all the time and effort to repair and modify. Already replace both front inner fenders, inner fender to firewall brackets, inner fender to cowl and upper cowl. So being a perfect OEM match at this point really isn't a factor.
