Stripped Door Panel Screw Holes

Most of the holes for my door panels are stripped.  Is there a recommended way to repair this?  I'm tempted to put 8-32 nutserts in the door and use SS truss-head screws instead.

From the backside, gently tap the crown flat with a tiny hammer. Not easy to do for some of them.

You can poke a small nail with a head through from the backside then chuck it up in an old-fashioned dent puller. Be gentle. As the crown flattens it will make the hole diamater smaller. In most cases not much is needed.

Small plastic anchors will work as well.

I used Alaskan_TA nail method worked perfect & was able to use the original factory screws, chrome phillips head w/the sleeve to prevent crushing the panel

That's what I've heard as well.  Just get some of those small anchors that you would use to attach a picture to a wall where there is no stud.

Otherwise you can weld them up and redrill the holes.

Has anyone tried nut-serts?  I have a Marson thread riveter which may be one of the best inventions, ever.

I like the idea but not tried it. The only problem I can think of would be the 1/16" (approx) thickness of the head of the nut-sert/riv-nut. I'm thinking it would leave a small gap between the door and door panel?
