got my challenger out today for the first time in 6 months
« on: February 15, 2010 - 12:52:11 PM »
Got insurance put on the challenger last night, our total bill only went up 2 dollars a month??? So i took it for a about a 30 mile drive today, ran pretty good. Its still not tuned right, it wants to die if its not at 2k RPMs or so after that it will still throw you back in your seat. The tranny didnt want to shift at all for the first 2-3 miles but after about 10-15 miles it got back to shifting normal (guess sitting is just hard on them) brakes are in good shape and everything else seems fine. Is there anything special you guys do to your cars after you take them out of storage for the winter? Im going to change the oil but it needed that before i put it up. Anything else i should do to it?

Well, I have to remove a few feet of snow before I get mine out.   :P

Seriously, though..An oil change, and your tires will probably be low on air pressure. The fact that you had it up and running for 30 miles, is a good sign of no trouble...But what about it wanting to die? Is this new? Probably a carb problem or vacuum leak.   :dunno:

we moved from arkansas 700 feet above sea level to colorado 7100 feet above sea level and we had so much stuff going on last fall that we never tuned it to the high altitude. it needs the jets adjusted

You may have to adjust the timing a bit to compensate for the thinner air. Bet Neil can give some more accurate input!! Glad to hear you got it up and running.  :woo:

That's cool you were able to take it out already.  It's been a relatively mild winter here (Wisconsin), but I'm definitely done with snow for a while.
