    Looks like you got some work too, I think it's a good idea to seal em while their open, easy enough now , just slop some por15 or eastwood stuff in there & no future worries!
    here's a few shots of the job
    one side being prepared for weldin, por15'd & weld spots cleaned.

    Pans welded in, went a little wild here, warped the pan doing it, (my first time) but she's solid!
    did a little better on the drivers side! ::)

    Yep, I'm crazy, but what do you do after you laid down your money & the car is home, This is my first  resto, so it's good it's a clone, cause I've made a lot of mistakes along the way, but I had to learn & thats still going on, next car (is a bit dryer) & should come out better if I ever get this one done!  ???Rich.

    OK. This is wierd. When I pulled my trunk pans out, the two middle braces (for the fuel tank) were NOT welded to the subframe of the car. I cut out the pans and the fuel tank braces came out with the pans! I didn't drill or cut on the braces at all. Were those braces welded to the sub-frame on your cars?

     :o They are suppose to be Steve, mine were when I replaced my trunk floor, post some pictures when you get a chance. Hey RC, speaking of first time, this is my first complete also, it is costing an arm and a leg but I figure you couldn't go to any school and learn any better than tackeling the job yourself, learning from others here and other places as well. It's not a job, it's an adventure!! hehe, I am loving it though! Nice work by the way!  :D

    Yep, most expensive school I ever went to!!
    On those trunk braces mine were welded rear only, came up a couple a inches short in front, instead a tryin to do them off the car i made extensions outta scrap steel & welded em to the cross member in front! not sure if thats factory or not, but a lot easier to measure everything out!!!

    Looks good Rusty - I did find a couple of shots of a 70 AAR model trunk. Owner claims this is original, maybe this could server as a visual blueprint? Ck it out:

    On the trunk braces, mine weren't welded to the frame. I actually welded mine to the pan halves out of the car. there werre no spot welds on the main cross brace (the one near the rear shock mounts).

    Hey steve, I added a couple of inches to them & did it myself, I had not removed the back 2 inches of the trunk pan so they were just hangin there, didn't have my "new" tail panel at that point so I didn't want to drill out the rears, seems to have worked out ok, the actual pan didn't rest on that cross member anyway! & I did all the weldin to the pan from the top.
    Mike, may need that for the 74,thanks, 73 is going in as modified(just a tad) so I'm not going crazy with details, just want it to be clean! Rich.
