Crank pulley and fan pulley

How much space should there be between the fan and crank pulley on a 440?  It seems that mine are just too close.  Thanks.

Non ac  they are very close. May not pull the water pump pulley straight off without them touching

a little more than a C-hair, 3/32 maybe.

What about on an AC car?  It IS an AC car, but now that I think about it, I am not sure if this engine was from an AC car or not.

engine doesnt matter it is the pulleys and additional brackets, pulley spacing is still about the same, with the 2 groove wp and 4 groove crank.

Yeah, that is kind of what I meant.  I am not so clear sometimes.  I am just not sure if this engine has ever been used in my car and if it were, was it used with AC?  I am not sure.  I have a 4 groove crank pulley and the fan pulley does not line up and it seems to touch.  I am not sure if there is too much paint on it or what.  Also, I am not sure if the water pump, or the area that the fan pulley bolts to on the water pump, can be pulled a little further out?  maMaybe a 1/4" to line up.  Will not do any good though if the pulleys are touching.

After getting my crank pulley on, I was trying to line up the fan pulley and still not having any luck.  The two are just too close and end up touching.  Off a 383 I pulled the fan pulley.  This pulley is smaller in diameter and is more shallow compared to mine.  I put the shallow one on and it lines up with the first groove on the crank pulley.  Is this going to be a problem?  I have not tried to put my power steering pump on yet, but doesn't that pulley need the first groove?  Thanks!
