Are these drums the same?

I *think* my gut says these are OK to use but wanted to run this by you guys...

I just bought a couple new drums at Autozone.

I bought drums for a 72 Barracuda, which is what mine is, with 10x2 1/2" brakes, which is what I have.

Are ALL 10" x 2.5" brakes and drums thesame?

Reason I ask is that the new drums look different from my old ones...




The old one has a weight on it....and the old one has a shorter "dome"...

I tried the drum on the car and it seems just fine.....the total depth is the same and the diameter is the same.  If anything I figure the new ones give more clearance inside.

Is this anything to think twice about?

On the upside, one of the drums is an older piece...from 2003...MADE IN THE USA!  The other is made in china. LOL

I don't see a problem. It looks like the new ones have a little more surface area for the pads. As long as depth is the same, I would slap them on.

That is what I was thinking too...
Why the weight though on the old ones?

The earlier drums were balanced, the new replacement ones don't appear to need balancing or it is just a cost cutting measure because of the smaller dia.   
Fit drum on hub/flange and make sure that it doesn't hit the backing plate and it should be OK.

They seem to fit just fine so I am going with them. Painted them cast aluminum.
