833 to OD convert
« on: March 06, 2010 - 04:40:18 PM »
So I just picked up an OD from a 75 Fury, all cast, 23 spline input unit. Other than the tailhousing that I have coming, and an E body mainshaft are there any other "hard parts" that I need to start looking for so I have everything in place before I start the conversion?? Yes I am looking for a mainshaft. To answer the question, I do have an OD in the car now but I wasnt involved in any of its conversion.. Thx, Bob

I am not clear on what you are asking , if you bought a B Body OD with 2 shifter mounts it should bolt in

I know what you're saying but there is only the fwd shifter mount. So Im thinking there was some mid prod. year changes made, as we all know Chrysler did. All I can say for sure is this.... (1) The L side case is date coded 6/18/76 the right side machined pad is stamped PP83?5458 or PP63?5458. In either case the vin decoder said P was a Fury, (which is actually a moot point) unless that is not what that pad # is for? (2) I did put it in all 4 gears and t is definatly an OD. (3) It is definatly 23 spline input. (4) The ibr is 5"+. (5) I did stick a magnet on it and it is definatly cast case and tailhousing. (6) I know I need an E body tailshaft housing, which is on the way. (7) I know I need a E body mainshaft, which is what Im currently hunting for. Ya got one??? So the question is, are there any more parts (other than a rebuild kit) that I need to look for to do the conversion?? ( I have heard there was a difference in coountershaft diameters) Thx, Bob

This sounds like the f-body OD, what is the length of the transmision?  If it is the f body you will need the main shaft also, but thats all.
