ARP's quaility, 3 projects 3 days, thanks ARP...
« on: March 12, 2010 - 10:05:28 PM »
What happened to ARP's quaility. I put an Edelbrock manifold on with ARP 12 bolts had to loosen bolts to realign. 12 points rounding off. I use chrome finish. Header bolts 12 point chrome finish, one hella time getting them back out. Used brand new Sears sockets. My buddys tried and they pitched a ***** too. The Sears sockets seem to work on all our other projects. I'll be damned if I would even think about using ARP products internally on my engines now. $3000 for my Stroker kit and another $3000 for cam/lifters, block, roller rockers, shims, studs, pushrods, external oil lines, swinging oil pickup and a large modified oil pan. My hardware (nuts/bolts etc) is probably only $500. Big time lost faith. Tried to contact their website twice. Errors/errors in their contact us info. Well contact me @ I won't use ARP products again...

I never use chrome fasteners. Too much plating thickness and you get what you have. Go with stainless.

Used an ARP engine kit in the past and found many fasteners that just weren't the correct length. Header bolts too short. Valve cover bolts too short. Couple other issues has well. Really disappointed given the price and reputation.

FWIW, I still use a lot of ARP stuff inside the motor, but I've started spec'ing out my own stuff from Fastenal for outside the motor.

I've never had any issues with ARP stuff, other than getting extra bolts or washers or whatever. I am not realy keen on Craftsman tools made after about '90. Most of my stuff is Snap On or SK.

I dont like stainless bolts... especially in engines.  too many problems with stretch, coming loose after a while and contact corrosion with other materials like aluminum.
