Sorry GoMango, that's my fault the way I worded it. The only thing that won't fit is the axles.  ;D

Now that I read the quote, I see you had "will fit" in there :-[  Good thing about the b-body housing is it will be a little narrower for more tire clearance ;D

I would think that the rear sway bar should be fine.  The B-body housing mounts are less than an inch closer to the center of the housing on each side.  This will only slightly change the angle of the end links.  I might be missing something there though.

I don't mean to thread hijack but I've giot a related question, are theree any performance differences between the b-body housings, for example, I got one out of a satellite and it has the puny 741 center section in it.  I will be putting my 489 center section in it but was wondering if there were any difference in the actual housings, or are they all the same ie axle diameter, bearing size, etc.

The 8 3/4 axle housings or banjo's as they are called are all the same as far as how they are built, the only difference is in the dimensions as far as the different body styles A B C E etc.. The differential housing or drop out or carrier or chunk assembly, 741, 489 and 742 housings will fit into any 8 3/4 housing. Hope that makes sense. The 742 is the toughest although some would argue the 489 is. The 489 has a tapered pinion but the 742 is straight.  :D

The pinion gear size is the main difference
That 741 has the 1 3/8  pinion gear and is not recomended for high performance use

(I'll bet ya it's still stronger then the GM 10 bolt)

As far as outside dimentions it's about the same

The big difference you might need to address is the U-joint size.
You may need to buy a new one to get the 489 case to work with your driveshaft

Alright, thanks you guys, thats kind of what I suspected but when you read the Yearone catalogue it kind of leads you to believe that the actual housing or 'banjo' are different ie different bearing size, etc depending on what type of center section they came with ie 489, 741. obviously I know they are different widths, thats why I put one in ;D I will be using the 489 casing in the b-body rear housing and the driveshaft wont be a problem as I don't have one yet :P.  Thanks again guys, it seems like I always have all the questions and you guys have all the answers, when that going to change?
